Local development plan 2 background

Main Issues Report (MIR)

MIR consultation

The Main Issues Report (MIR) is a forerunner to LDP2 (Local Development Plan 2) and seeks to encourage public engagement and comments on a wide range of matters. We have approved the MIR and a 12 week public consultation on the document is underway.

The deadline to respond to the consultation is 31 January 2019.

What the MIR does

The MIR identifies key development and land use issues which the LDP2 must address, setting out what are considered to be our preferred options for tackling these issues. This includes the identification of new sites for future development and suggesting reasonable alternatives.

It raises a series of questions and options for each topic area. Key topics within the MIR include:

  • regenerating our town centres
  • housing land provision
  • delivery of infrastructure
  • addressing climate change
  • employment land provision
  • promotion of quality building design
  • opportunities for growing our economy

Public engagement events

Public participation and community engagement are an important part of the process. It is an opportunity for any interested parties to submit comments to help shape your town, economy and environment. In order to publicise and discuss the MIR consultation a series of drop-in sessions and evening workshops have been arranged across the Scottish Borders.

No booking is required for the afternoon drop-in sessions however advance booking is required for the evening sessions. Please email [email protected] outlining your contact details and which session you wish to attend.
