Planning briefs

A planning brief summarises our broad vision and requirements for the development of a particular site or collection of sites. Planning briefs are written to guide developers, and usually cover issues such as:

  • development density
  • linkages to surrounding areas
  • suitable uses on the site
  • provision of open space and landscaping.

Planning briefs are normally produced for housing sites of a significant size or particularly sensitive sites which require detailed guidance.

Consultation is a key step in producing planning briefs.  We consult the public and key local and national consultees on all draft planning briefs.  Draft planning briefs can be found at the link below, along with approved planning briefs.
