How much does it cost?
A certificate purchased within one month of registration will cost £10. Any certificate outwith one month of registration will cost £15.
Certificates which require to be posted shall be dispatched using Royal Mail and will incur a postage charge.
I need my certificate quickly. Do you have a priority service?
Our Priority Service costs £10.00. If your certificate is ordered before 12 noon on a working day it will be dispatched the same day.
If your certificate is ordered after 12 noon on a working day, at weekends or during public holidays it will be dispatched on the next working day.
What certificates can I order?
You can order any birth, death and marriage certificate registered in Scotland from 1855 to present date and civil partnerships registered in Scotland from 2004 to present date as long as you are able to provide all the details required.
Please note that certificates may not be available if the event was registered outwith the Scottish Borders, within the current year.
What certificates can’t be ordered?
The following certificates can't be ordered via our service:
- certificate from the Adopted Children’s Register in Scotland - please visit National Records of Scotland: Ordering Certificates.
- certificate for an event taking place in England and Wales - please visit General Register Office – England and Wales
- certificate for an event which occurred in Northern Ireland - please visit General Register Office – Northern Ireland
- certificate which occurred within the current year must be obtained from the Registrar in the District where the event was registered - for a list of registration offices in Scotland please visit National Records of Scotland.
