Inspections and evaluations resources
Evaluations of schools are carried out within each school, and externally by ourselves and by Her Majesty's Inspectors (HMIe).
Schools
Schools carry out a number of activities throughout the year to evaluate how well they are doing. A summary of these activities are published annually in the Education and Lifelong Learning Standards and Quality Report. Schools also produce an annual School Improvement Plan which outlines the way the school intends to continue to improve. These documents are available on the school website or by contacting the school office.
Council reviews
We have a regular programme of Learning Community reviews. In session 2010 / 11 - learning community reviews were completed within Tweeddale and Cheviot . In sessions 2011/12 learning community reviews are planned for Teviot and Liddesdale and Berwickshire.
Contact us to request the outcomes of a review.
School inspections
Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education (HMIe) inspect a number of schools each year as part of their national monitoring of the education system. Inspections currently consider how well children learn and achieve; how well they are supported in school; and how well the school improves the quality of its work.
Approximately one year after the inspection, parents wil be provided with an update from the council or HMIe on how well the school has been progressing with the areas HMIe identified for further development.
