English for speakers of other languages

Community learning and development with Borders college provide free English classes for adults living in the Scottish Borders. Classes run in several towns in the Borders throughout the year.

Register to study English

You can study at a range of levels, from beginners through to certificate classes.

Once you have registered, you will be invited to an assessment session. You will work with trained tutors to decide which level of class is best for you.

You will receive a letter when your chosen class is due to start. You may have to wait for an assessment session or for a suitable class to start if there are not enough people. You will receive a letter with more information if there is going to be a long delay.
