Addiction support groups

A number of support groups exist within Borders Drug and Alcohol Services for both service users and carers:

Quest Group

Quest is a support group, held in Galashiels, for families and carers across the Scottish Borders. The group:

  • can provide a place to share, trust and confide in others who have similar issues
  • is open to anyone over the age of 16
  • does not require formal contact from anyone wishing to attend
  • has an "open" door policy which means people can come and go as they feel they need to
  • is free to access every alternate Thursday between 1pm-3pm at Addaction Borders, 125 High Street, Galshiels, TD1 1RZ

NHS Borders Addictions Service (BAS)

This group:

  • meets regularly
  • is led by a service-user
  • is currently open to anyone who is in receipt of services from BAS

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)

The AA runs support groups for people affected by alcohol addiction and currently holds meetings in:

  • Duns
  • Eyemouth
  • Berwick
  • Galashiels
  • Hawick
  • Peebles
  • Melrose

This organisation runs spport groups for people whose lives are affected by someone with an alcohol problem.

Meetings held:

  • Hawick on Sundays at 8pm
  • Peebles on Tuesdays at 8pm
  • Selkirk on Thursdays at 8pm
