I am writing under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 to request the following information regarding the Head Teacher post which currently has responsibility for Heriot, Fountainhall, and Stow Primary Schools:1) Current Salary Band: Please confirm the current salary band or range for the Head Teacher post, including whether the salary level reflects responsibility for multiple school settings (i.e. Heriot, Fountainhall, and Stow).
2) Changes in Remuneration: Has the salary changed during the period the Head Teacher took on additional responsibility for Stow? If so, please specify the date(s) and reason(s) for any salary changes.
3) Future Salary Position: With the mothballing of Fountainhall Primary School and the reduction in the number of settings under the Head Teacher?s remit (anticipated from August 2025), will the salary band or remuneration package be reviewed? If so, please indicate the process and expected timeline. Pupil Numbers:
4) Please provide the total number of primary-aged children the Head Teacher is has been responsible for across the three schools (broken down by school if possible) in the last 10 years, and the projected number for August 2025 assuming Fountainhall remains mothballed.
5) Teaching Commitment: Does the Head Teacher currently have a teaching commitment as part of her role? If yes, please specify how many hours or days per week are allocated to teaching duties.
Response
1) For HT posts all councils follow the job-sizing process set out within the SNCT handbook. This is not a salary band like SJC posts but a point on the DHT/HT spine published within the SNCT handbook - Part 2 - SNCT Handbook, and is therefore exempt under Section 25 of Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

3) Significant changes in school roles or number of settings will automatically trigger a job sizing review. There will be no review to salary position while Fountainhall is mothballed, in the event of a reduction of salary all staff are conserved for 3 years as in SNCT guidance 4) Performance Team Using SG Pupil Census
