- We can confirm that seven school settings were mothballed within that period or are currently mothballed. These include:*Ettrick Primary School*St Margaret?s RC Hawick*Hobkirk Primary*Eccles and Leithen*Eddleston Primary School (currently mothballed)*St Joseph?s RC, Selkirk (currently mothballed)*Wilton Centre, Hawick There were other primary schools closed through statutory closure consultations without being mothballed:*Howdenburn Primary and Parkside Primary, due to the creation of The Jedburgh Intergenerational Campus.*ELC Settings: Officers have interpreted this question to mean between the years 2015-2025. The ELC settings that were mothballed include:*Kirkhope ELC ? mothballed on January 8, 2015, and reopened on August 12, 2018, when numbers increased.*Currently, three ELC settings are considered inactive (in terms of Care Inspectorate) or can be termed mothballed: Sprouston, Fountainhall, and Westruther. None have been closed. How many were re-opened?*Schools: None of the mothballed school settings were reopened. All proceeded to statutory closure consultations under The Schools Consultation (Scotland) Act 2010 (As Amended), and closure decisions were taken by elected members.*ELC Settings: Kirkhope ELC was the only setting that was mothballed on January 8, 2015, and subsequently reopened on August 12, 2018, when numbers increased. How many were re mothballed?*Schools: None of the schools were re mothballed.*ELC Settings: None of the ELC settings were re mothballed. How many were permanently closed?*Schools: Of the mothballed schools, all proceeded to closure consultations regarding permanent closure, except for the two currently mothballed primary schools: Eddleston Primary and St Joseph?s RC Primary, Selkirk.*ELC Settings: None of the ELC settings were permanently closed
