Whether CLPL on reproductive health issues is currently offered to SMTs * Whether CLPL on reproductive health issues is mandatory for SMTs
* Whether the CLPL covers:
1. Understanding of a range of reproductive health issues including menstrual health issues, endometriosis and menopause.
2. The physical and mental health impact that reproductive health issues can have on the day-to-day work of school staff.
3. The physical and mental health impact that reproductive health issues can have on young people in education.
4. The reasonable adjustments that can be made by SMTs to support school staff to continue to carry out their roles and responsibilities.
5. The reasonable adjustments that can be made by SMTs to support young people to access education when dealing with reproductive health issues.
6. The role occupational therapy can play in supporting both school staff and the SMT in making workplace adjustments to reduce the negative impact of reproductive health issues.
* A copy of any Human Resources policies and procedures related to reproductive health.
Response
No formal training for SMT. Not mandatory There is no mandatory training for SMT on these issues. Optional modules are available on SB Learn on Menopause in the Workplace and Creating a Period Positive Workplace. There is no mandatory training for SMT on these issues. Optional modules are available on SB Learn on Menopause in the Workplace and Creating a Period Positive Workplace. Pastoral staff/SMT may undertake additional training through Education Scotland or Health Improvement services which would linked to young people. Scottish Borders schools all follow the RSHP education programme for PSE. If SMT were concerned they would contact HR services for additional advice. Pastoral staff/SMT would deal with each individually and take advice from the young person, family and health professionals.
