Response
Speech and Language Therapy in NHS Borders continues to have a Partnership Agreement with Scottish Borders Council. This has been in place for many years. The funding within this Partnership Agreement has not increased since it was established. The funding amount for the current financial year (2024-25) is 138,900.00 paid annually from Council funding. No data is held regarding what this will cover for the financial year 2024-25 but outcomes are reviewed annually, at the end of each financial year, on receipt of an annual impact report focused on impact outcomes. For the previous session (2023-24) the annual Council funding (also for 138,900.00) covered the equivalent of: * 1.2 (approx.) x Band 5 WTE
* 1 x Band 6 WTE
* 0.3 x Band 7 WTE
There is no current formal agreement between SBC and NHS Borders which ringfences how the funding from SBC is spent but there is agreement regarding how to achieve best outcomes for children and young people in the Borders. The Council funding includes intervention at all levels (including staff training) to support children and young people where communication is the main barrier to educational participation and wellbeing.
