- I would like to make an EIR for a proposed residential barn conversion at the below site for planning application (21/01050/FUL): Water mill north of Mill House, Clerklands, Melrose, Scottish Borders, TD6 9JR. Any environmental data (landfills, pollutant releases or significantly impacting events) pertaining to the site or immediate surrounding area of Clerklands would be helpful. Whilst it is difficult to obtain, any information relating to nearby groundwater abstraction points would also be useful.

- Scottish Borders Council are not aware of any recorded pollution incidents in relation to the subject site. It would be recommended SEPA are also consulted in regard to this enquiry. The site has operated as an agricultural steading and mill including associated sheepwash infrastructure. Site activities/operations may be potentially contaminative. Our current datasets do not include any recorded landfills within the vicinity of the site however smaller informal features such as the nearby mill dam/pond and associated lade may have undergone unrecorded infilling. The nearest recorded private water supply is > 1km from the subject site.
