Community benefits - Supplier resources

Information
Scottish Borders Council is committed to obtaining community benefits through its procurement activities, extending beyond the core purpose of its contracts to deliver added value. As stated in the Corporate Procurement Strategy, our aim is to ensure that, not only do we provide essential goods, services and works, but also contribute to the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the local area.

The delivery of community benefits will be required for contracts, or cumulative framework expenditure, exceeding £25,000 in value, and will become a contractual obligation. Delivery will be guided by the Council’s points-based system, which outlines spend thresholds and sets out the level of community benefit expected from suppliers.

Through our contracts, suppliers will be encouraged to provide tangible benefits and added value using our community benefit menu to deliver on the following areas:

• Educational support
• Community engagement
• Work experience/placements
• Employment
• Supplier development
