Annual archaeology conference returns for 20th anniversary

Published: 3rd November 2022

The annual Edinburgh, Lothians & Borders archaeology conference takes place later this month and is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Showcasing archaeology work across the Borders and further afield

Organised by the South East Scotland Archaeology Partnership, comprising of SBC and our partners Edinburgh Council and East Lothian Council, the conference will highlight archaeological work carried out by a variety of groups across the southeast of Scotland area, and across the range of periods and themes of archaeology.

A jam packed programme of events will see talks and first-hand accounts of the archaeological fieldwork, research and discoveries including Borders-specific talks on Discovering Drumelzier’s Hidden Heritage, with news on the fieldwork started this year at Tinnis Castle and the surrounding area, as well as an update of the on-going fieldwork and post-excavation at Shootinglee near Traquair.

The conference allows archaeology enthusiasts to meet, network and share ideas with a range of displays and stalls from organisations and local groups on show and will mark the return of a live in-person audience for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.
