Face-to-face public meeting to be held on the replacement of Peebles High School

Published: 10th September 2021

An in-person public meeting has been arranged allowing members of the community to learn more about the proposals for the replacement of Peebles High School

In-person public meeting

The event, which marks the return of face-to-face public meetings, will take place at Burgh Hall on Tuesday 14 September from 2pm-9pm.

It will allow our staff to showcase the designs for the new Campus and explain the decision making for the project whilst also allowing for the public to feedback on the initial designs.

Supplementary online meetings

In order to engage with as wide a range of people as possible two supplementary online public meetings have been scheduled for Wednesday 15 September to cater for members of the public who are unable to attend the in-person meeting.

An afternoon session held between 2pm-4pm and an evening session between 6pm-8pm will follow the same format as the physical public event and will provide another opportunity for our staff to run through the updated plans and widen the reach of the public consultation.

Earlier conultations still available to view

Earlier consultations, which have been held exclusively online as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and outline the initial design proposals, are still available to view online.

This includes videos explaining the overarching vision for the project which has been strongly influenced by the surrounding Peebles area and aims to support the delivery of a 21st century curriculum and provide wide-ranging community sporting benefits.

COVID-19 measures and registering your interest

A range of COVID-19 measures, including adherence to social-distancing guidelines, the wearing of face coverings and the use of hand sanitiser will be in place on the night of the public meeting to ensure that those who wish to attend can do so as safely as possible.

Members of the public can register their interest for both the in-person public event and the online meetings by emailing PHSconsultation@scotborders.gov.uk and specifying which session they will be attending.

Next steps

A summary report taking into account the feedback gathered from this stage of consultation will be produced as part of a full planning application later this year.

The target for completion of the new campus is December 2025.
