Thank You Day

Convener of Scottish Borders Council, Councillor David Parker, has issued a thank you to the staff of the Council, partners and Borders residents for their support and efforts to tackle COVID-19

This comes as governments, local authorities and hundreds of other organisations join in ‘Thank You Day’ on Sunday 4 July.

David Parker, Convener

“Early in 2020 it could never have been envisaged all that would happen over the next year. It has been traumatic and tragic for many, but what has never wavered is the incredible way in which our staff, our partners and our communities have reacted, come together and stepped up to the plate for the benefit of each other.

“On behalf of the Council I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge those efforts and say ‘thank you’.

“Council staff right across our departments have consistently gone above and beyond to ensure that we have been able to support our communities, residents and businesses in a whole variety of ways, with hundreds of staff deployed to new roles to make this possible.

“Our partners and their staff, from NHS Borders to our local housing associations and the emergency services to charitable organisations, have been critical in the regionwide response to COVID-19.

“Our communities have shown incredible resilience and strength during this time, with Resilient Community groups and individuals coming forward to play their part in helping local people in need on a scale unlike anything before.

“The response has truly made me proud to be a Borderer. Thank you again, one and all, for your support. I’d encourage you all to take the time on Sunday to recognise those who have helped you and to say thank you to them too.”
