An informal community consultation on plans to replace Eyemouth Primary School has been launched today

Members of the community are being encouraged to share their thoughts on the proposals, which includes three separate options for the replacement of the school.

It follows a feasibility study which was carried out in 2020 to examine a wider range of options to replace Eyemouth Primary School following concerns raised by the local community.

We have identified three potential options to replace the existing facility. These range from building a new school adjacent to the existing site, creating a dedicated space for all early years and primary school learning at Eyemouth High School and a hybrid option incorporating elements of both.

This initial consultation will be followed by a report back to Council allowing for a formal consultation to take place later in the year.

Councillor Carol Hamilton, Executive Member for Children and Young People

“We’re extremely keen to open this consultation up to the wider community and to hear their views on this project. Gathering public feedback acts as an important step in finalising the plans for this project and we want to hear from as many people as possible.

“After conducting an initial feasibility study and consulting with the respective school leadership teams and parent councils, the Council has identified a range of options for the replacement of Eyemouth Primary School.

“Supporting our young people by providing world-class learning and teaching facilities across the region has always been a priority for the Council.

“The options within this consultation will deliver outstanding educational facilities that will meet the needs of the young people in the local area and give them the best possible start in life. We want the community to come forward and help us agree on which the best of those options is.”
