Kelso will host the start and finish of the second stage of the 2019 OVO Energy Tour of Britain in September and a drop-in session is being held for residents and businesses.
The drop-in event will take place in the Cross Keys Hotel’s lounge area between 2pm and 4.30pm on Tuesday 25 June to provide important information on the event.
The session will enable local people and businesses to find out more about the Tour of Britain’s visit to the Scottish Borders on Sunday 8 September, including business and marketing opportunities, parking restrictions and road closures.
Anyone who is unable to attend the drop-in event will be able to find information on our website.
The 2019 OVO Energy Tour of Britain will finish in Greater Manchester on Saturday 14 September. Once again ITV4 will screen three hours of live coverage of every stage, with broadcasters around the world also signed up to cover the event.
Councillor Mark Rowley, Executive Member for Business and Economic Development
“The Square in Kelso is the perfect stage for this type of event, and as we saw in 2017 the race brought thousands of people to the town.
“This is fantastic news for businesses in particular, who I’m sure will grasp this unique opportunity of having thousands of people in the town centre from the morning to late afternoon.
“This drop-in event is an opportunity for local businesses to find out about the opportunities associated with the event, and marketing and income potential for them, and for residents to find out about the parking restrictions and road closures which may impact on them for this one day event.
“We are in the privileged position of having a whole stage of the Tour of Britain in our region and I’m sure everyone is looking forward to 8 September already.”
