A new category - the Children and Young People’s Champion Award – has been added this year to give young people the opportunity to recognise an inspirational and supporting adult in their lives.
Nominations close on 14 September 2018. They are welcomed from young people, parents, carers, schools, youth organisations and community groups.
Judging will be carried out by this year’s Awards Group which is made up of young people from across the Borders aged eight to 25.
The results will be announced at the Scottish Borders Year of Young People Inspire Awards 2018 ceremony to be held at the Volunteer Hall, Galashiels on Friday 16 November 2018.
Councillor Carol Hamilton, Executive Member for Children and Young People
“Now in their eighth year, these annual awards are an opportunity for all the hard work and commitment of our young achievers and volunteers to be given the recognition this deserves. In the Year of Young People it feels especially significant that this acknowledgement takes place.
“The new Champion Award is an exciting addition that will enable young people to honour an adult who has played an important role in their journey.
“I would encourage people to get their nominations in before the closing date so that everyone who deserves to be recognised can be part of the awards’ ceremony in November.”
The awards are sponsored by local businesses and organisations and new sponsors are always welcome.
