We are working with NHS Borders in partnership with local organisations to host the Scottish Borders Diversity week for a second year. This year it will be focusing on the theme of 'Belonging'.

Scottish Borders Diversity Week

The week-long programme will run from 17 to 22 September 2018.

It will be filled with interactive events for family, friends and colleagues to enjoy and will finish with a Diversity Celebration and Exhibition at Borders College on 22 September.

Getting Involved

Take part in the Diversity Celebration and Exhibition by sumbitting a creative writing piece or performing on the day, conveying the theme of belonging and what it feels like to be part of a community. If you are part of any of these groups we are inviting you to get involved:

  • Community groups
  • Youth grups
  • Local primary schools
  • Local high schools

Local organisations and community groups are also invited to host individual events and promote Diversity Week, encouraging the Borders public to get involved.

For more information including how to get involved contact Lizzie Ireland, Health Improvement Practitioner:

Dr Tim Patterson, Joint Director of Public Health

“Diversity Week aims to encourage and empower our local communities to come together as one, learn from each other and value the diversity that already exists here in the Scottish Borders. We are looking for organisations to support the week by hosting events to raise awareness of diversity, culture and heritage in the Scottish Borders.”

Councillor John Greenwell, Equalities Champion

“The Scottish Borders is an increasingly diverse community to live in and it is vital that all of our public bodies engage fully with the many minority groups living and working in the Scottish Borders. I am delighted that once again we are holding a diversity event supported by both the NHS and Council and I would urge local organisations and community groups to get involved and play their part in what I am sure will be a very successful week.
