Roxburgh Street to reopen to traffic

Roadworks warning triangle sign on a public road junction

Published: Friday, 17th November 2017

Roxburgh Street in Kelso will reopen to traffic this evening, Friday 17 November, after progress was made on repairing a privately owned dangerous building.

A structural engineer inspected the site on Thursday 16 November and deemed the building stable enough to allow scaffolding to be removed and vehicles to return to the road.

Normal traffic resumes

Once Roxburgh Street has reopened, the one way order on Union Street will be restored and traffic will return to normal.

Scaffolding will remain in place on the site to allow contractors to complete the repairs, which are expected to be concluded before Christmas.

Local shops open as usual

Additional signage was put in place during the closure to advise members of the public that local shops remained open as usual.

All local shops, businesses and residents are thanked for their patience during the Roxburgh Street closure.

Road opening – time to be confirmed

The timing of the road opening this evening will be confirmed on social media and provided to local radio.

These works have been completed three weeks ahead of schedule.
