We are supporting a campaign to increase awareness of the benefits of bus travel.

From 6 to 26 November, Borders Buses shall promote the many advantages of public transport with the aim of encouraging more people to ditch the car and jump on the bus.

To attract more bus usage the company has launched a £5 promotional day ticket and have teamed up with us to encourage visitors, residents and our staff to ditch the car and try the bus.

Borderless Day Ticket

  • The Borderless Day will offer unlimited travel across the full Borders Buses network, which includes Lothian, the Scottish Borders, North Northumberland and Cumbria.
  • A social media campaign will also highlight the many health, money saving and environmental benefits to using the bus.

Councillor Gordon Edgar, Executive Member for Roads and Infrastructure

“We are pleased to be supporting this excellent initiative to encourage people to use public transport.

“There has already been very good feedback to the Borderless Ticket offer via social media and I would encourage people who do not normally use the bus to jump on a service during this campaign, whether for work purposes or a day out.

"It is not only value for money to use the bus, but could significantly reduce the number of vehicles on the roads, help to reduce pollution and improve public health.

“Borders Buses have shown a real commitment to improving the service in the region, carrying out consultation events in order to listen the public, and this is another exciting idea which I hope will see more people using local bus services.”

Lee Young, operations manager at Borders Buses, Galashiels

“From getting young people to school and college, taking people to work, shopping, medical appointments to visiting friends the bus provides an important link in our communities, town and cities.

“The Borderless Day ticket represents real value for money and we hope this alongside the many benefits of bus use will increase the number of people opting to use the bus instead of cars.”
