Views sought on procurement strategy

Published: Tuesday, 17th October 2017

A consultation on our new five year procurement strategy is currently underway.

The strategy, which will run from 2018 to 2023, will aim to ensure that the goods, services and works purchased by us, as well as the arrangements put in place to buy them, fully support our priorities.

Stakeholders are invited to give their views on the strategy through the consultation, which is open until Tuesday 31 October.

Executive Member for Finance, Councillor George Turnbull

“With the Council spending around £180million in 2016/17 with external suppliers, we have responsibility to use this money in the most effective way possible to achieve our objectives.

“A sustainable approach can make a real difference and positively contribute to delivering added value and innovative solutions through the procurement of excellent and cost effective requirements, particularly in light of reducing budgets and increasing demands.

“This strategy aims to deliver this innovative and sustainable approach to procurement and I would encourage any stakeholders to provide their views on the document as part of the consultation.”
