Drop in events are being held in Duns and Eyemouth on 27 June for anyone with an interest in making new connections in their communities.

There will be opportunities to explore activities suitable for all adults, including:

  • people with a learning disability, mental health issue or dementia
  • older people
  • carers
  • groups and individuals who would like to be more engaged within their local area.

Come along on Tuesday 27 June

The events are being supported by the National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTI) and our Community Capacity Building Team. They are being held:

  • Eyemouth Hippodrome (10am-12noon)
  • Volunteer Hall in Duns (2-4pm).

The events are free and refreshments will be provided.

Councillor Tom Weatherston, Executive Member for Adult Social Care

“The team has already been speaking to local people and getting their views about the types of social, leisure and learning experiences that are currently being provided across Berwickshire.

“They have been hearing about what is already working well and have begun to gather some ideas about other activities and ways of connecting that people might enjoy and find beneficial.

“They have also been listening to some of the barriers that people can face that stop them taking part in activities, such as transport, lack of choice, location or cost.

“I would encourage the people of Berwickshire to come along to their nearest local session so they can share their thoughts, give their suggestions and make sure their views are taken into account.”
