Yarrow Terrace will return to a two-way road after repairs to the Glen Hotel wall were completed ahead of schedule.
What will happen?
- The road will fully reopen on Wednesday 15 March, with Yarrow Terrace, Buccleuch Road and Mill Street all returning to two-way on that date
- Temporary signage will be put in place to inform people of the return to the normal two-way system from 15 March
- We will take the opportunity this week to improve street lighting on Yarrow Terrace before the temporary traffic arrangements are removed.
Councillor Gordon Edgar, Executive Member for Roads and Infrastructure
“I am delighted that this long-standing issue in Selkirk has now been resolved.
"There has been considerable disruption caused to local people while negotiations have been ongoing and we thank them for their patience.
“We would ask drivers to take care when Yarrow Terrace, Buccleuch Road and Mill Street all return to two-way on 15 March, as it will be a considerable change to the temporary one-way system which has been in place.”
Agreement was reached at the end of last year to allow the £100,000 works on the wall to take place.
A temporary one-way system has been in place since May 2013 while discussions carried on.
