We have received a report of a local resident receiving an email reputedly from HM Revenue and Customs advising a Council Tax refund was due.

HM Revenue and Customs do not deal with Council Tax payments and are therefore not in a position to repay Council Tax.

If you receive such an email please disregard it.

Legitimate Council Tax refunds

Council Tax refunds are dealt with by our Customer Services staff who should be contacted with any queries regarding balances or refunds due.

Anyone who has received an email or call that they are concerned about should contact us immediately on 0300 100 1800.

Cold calls and emails
