Footpath improvements on Peebles' Tweed Bridge

Published: Monday, 10th October 2016

Work on the path on Tweed Bridge in Peebles is taking place.

The old pavement is being removed and replaced on the east side of the bridge between Sunday 9 October and Saturday 15 October.

This is taking place during the October holidays to minimise disruption.

Impact

The path will be closed from 7.30am to 4pm each day when pedestrians will be safely diverted down Port Brae.

On Sunday, temporary three-way traffic lights were place at the Old Parish Church roundabout but traffic disruption for the rest of the week is expected to be minimal.

Parking is suspended on the bridge and outside the church for the duration of the works.

Councillor Gordon Edgar, Executive Member for Roads and Infrastructure:

"This work is important but the Council realises there may be some disruption. We've put plans in place to minimise this but apologise for any inconvenience."
