A free shuttle bus service will run in Selkirk next week to ensure the town stays connected during a road closure for important Flood Protection Scheme works.
Raeburn Place road closure
To allow for essential works to Shaw Burn to proceed, Raeburn Place is required to be closed from:
- Monday 21 - Friday 25 March, 8am - 6pm
The shuttle bus will run regularly between Raeburn Place and Market Place during the closure period. This will ensure residents still have public transport access to the town centre and will and provide them with connections to other bus services.
Councillor Gordon Edgar, Executive Member for Roads and Infrastructure
“The project team is conscious that this will cause some inconvenience for the local community but hope that residents will understand why this short-term closure is necessary.
“We hope that planning this work so that the road can reopen each night - along with the provision of the free shuttle bus service - will go some way to limiting any inconvenience caused.”
The shuttle bus service will be provided by First Borders.
The £31.4million Selkirk Flood Protection Scheme is now beyond the halfway stage, and when completed it will provide long-term protection to almost 600 properties in the town against a major flood event.
Shuttle bus schedule
The shuttle bus service will leave from Market Place to Raeburn Place and return to Market Place at the following times:
Monday 21 - Friday 25 March
