Residential care

Were you in residential care as a child?

The National Confidential Forum has been set up to support people who lived as children in a residential care or health setting in Scotland.

The Forum offers an opportunity for you to discuss your experiences, positive or negative, through a confidential, supportive and non- judgemental process.

What is the Forum?

The aim of the forum is to help improve your health and wellbeing if you were placed in institutional care (not foster/kinship care) as children. The Forum is not an inquiry and has no investigatory powers.

The focus of the Forum is on individuals. Hearings are private and service providers do not take part. You can talk about your experiences knowing:

  • your stories will be kept confidential
  • you will not be judged
  • you will receive a supportive hearing
