Community Enhancement Trust

Our Community Enhancement Trust is a registered charity and was established to promote the advancement of:

  • citizenship or community development
  • the arts, heritage, culture or science (including the upkeep of heritage assets)
  • the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving condition of life for the person for who the facilities or activities are primarily intended
  • environmental protection or improvement

The Community Enhancement Trust awards grants up to a maximum of:

  • £1k to non-constituted groups/individuals
  • £5k to fully constituted groups

How to apply

Before you submit a Community Enhancement Trust application form, please ensure that your project aligns with the Purpose of the fund (column 3) and that there are sufficient funds in the Ward you wish to apply to (column 6).  Please see below for further information.

Projects must promote the advancement of:  

Purpose A: citizenship or community development

Purpose B: the arts, heritage, culture or science (including the upkeep of heritage assets)

Purpose C: the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving condition of life for the person for who the facilities or activities are primarily intended

Funded projects

Berwickshire

  • Coldstream Twinning Association were awarded £1,500.00 to support a programme of activities for hosting French visitors from twinned town, Bennecourt

Cheviot

  • William Wallace Trust were awarded £79.88 to support further repairs and enhancements to the existing William Wallace statue located at Dryburgh Abbey, St Boswells. Repairs will secure a long-term future for statue and to enhance the visitor experience.

Eildon

  • Newtown Come & Sing Choir were awarded £530.00 to support costs covering  hall hire, the purchase of new music and refreshments.

Teviot and Liddesdale 

  • Hawick Rugby Football Club were awarded £2,382.54 to support an exhibition in Wilton Lodge Park to commemorate and celebrate the centenary of the birth of Bill McLaren and the 150th anniversary of the Hawick Rugby Club

Tweeddale

  • St Andrews Leckie Church were awarded £300.00 to support to purchase art supplies for weekly art classing for young people attending Peebles High School
