Scottish Borders #YOYP2018 Awards

The Scottish Borders YOYP2018 Awards (previously called the Inspire Awards) recognises dedicated and hard working young people who have achieved personally or who have contributed to help other young people and their communities in areas which support the #YOYP2018 aims objectives. Find out more about the Year of the Young people.

Nominations are now open for the Scottish Borders YOYP2018/Inspire Awards

The Awards which are held annually to celebrate the hard work and achievements of young people in the Scottish Borders aged 8 to 25. 

The Scottish Borders Year of Young People/Inspire Awards are designed to recognise and reward young individuals or groups who have personally achieved or overcome hardship to make a contribution to their local community in any of the following categories:  Culture, Education, Enterprise and Regeneration, Equality and Discrimination, Health and Wellbeing, Participation and Leadership.  A new category, the Children & Young People’s Champion Award has been added this year for young people to give recognition to an inspirational and supporting adult in their lives.

Nominations are open until  *****Extended to 5pm on Friday 28th September 2018*****. They are welcomed from young people, parents, carers, schools, youth organisations and community groups. Judging will be carried out by this year’s Awards Group which is made up of young people from across the Borders aged 8 to 25.

The results will be announced at the Scottish Borders Year of Young People/Inspire Awards 2018 ceremony to be held at the Volunteer Hall, Galashiels on Friday 16 November 2018.

The Inspire Awards event, in 2017, was held in the Galashiels Volunteer Hall in the Scottish Borders and is supported by staff from Scottish Borders Youth Voice.

Inspire Awards Group 

This is a constituted group made up of young people aged 8 to 25 years with support from the Scottish Borders Youth Voice staff.  The Board who oversees this group is elected each year from it's members. The young people lead on the planning and delivery of the ceremony and each year undertake an intensive events management training programme, covering a range of subjects such as presentation skills, communication skills, finance and budgeting, leadership and much more.
