Data Protection

This elearning site (SBlearn) is provided by the company Brightwave Limited on behalf of Scottish Borders Council.

We provide Brightwave Limited with the following information:

  • your pay no number
  • your name
  • where you work in SBC (Department, Section etc.) and work email address
  • when you started employment with SBC and, if you leave, your leave date

This information is needed so that you can access the programmes on this site, so that accurate records can be kept of the elearning programmes you do and to ensure that the records of the training you have done on this site are deleted from the Brightwave system when you end your employment with Scottish Borders Council.

This site will track and record any elearning programmes that you do and any assessments, scores, or activities that you undertake whilst on this site.

This information will all be stored on behalf of Scottish Borders Council by Brightwave Limited.

Brightwave Limited will provide Scottish Borders Council with information on the programmes that you do and any assessments that you undertake whilst on this site. Scottish Borders Council will hold this information and will share this information with divisions and managers in Scottish Borders Council. These records will be held after you leave the council in line with Scottish Council on Archives Records Retention Schedules (SCARRS).

Scottish Borders Council will store and use information about you which you provide on this site and in any supporting correspondence or documents which you send or give to us ('your information') strictly in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

You have the right to request access to personal data held about you by the Council and to have any inaccuracies corrected. You can do this by contacting the Data Protection Officer. We will respond to your request within 30 calendar days.
