Is the council reducing or stopping Council Tax due to COVID-19?
We appreciate that this is a difficult time for many of our residents and that COVID-19 is having a significant impact on our residents.
To help us continue to deliver the essential services we provide at this time of crisis, it’s important if your circumstances haven’t changed that you continue to pay what you should by maintaining your direct debit or the payment plan detailed on your bill.
If you have been financially affected and you’re struggling to pay your Council Tax, there is support available.
What financial help is available?
If you make a claim for Universal Credit you must indicate that you’re happy for your data to be shared with us, and an application for Council Tax Reduction will then be processed.
For customers who can’t claim Universal Credit, you must make a claim for Council Tax Reduction
I can’t pay my Council Tax this month, what should I do?
It’s important that you contact us to let us know if you are going to miss a payment or not pay the full amount. We will also ensure that you’re getting all the support you’re entitled to.
We may be able help with Council Tax costs, you should also claim Council Tax Reduction.

The Government has a funeral support paymet which helps to pay for some funeral costs. Find out more on the mygov.scot website.
