Waste and recycling top tips

Kerbside waste and recycling collections

  • present your bin at your collection point by 7am on your collection day
  • ensure your bin lid is shut
  • please present your bin with the handle facing towards the road to enable crews to move bins easily and safely 
  • please remove any padlocks and any other restraints from your bin on collection days
  • please remove any stones or weights from your bin lid on collection days 
  • take glass (bottles/jars) and textiles to a recycling point
  • take large items to a community recycling centre (CRC) or book a bulky uplift (fee applies for uplift)
  • take batteries to a CRC or collection point in local shops
  • take electrical items to a CRC

Recycling bin

  • place recycling loose into your recycling bin, no need to bag it
  • extra recycling can be presented in bags (not black bags) beside your recycling bin
  • large cardboard boxes can be flattened and presented beside your recycling bin, please keep them dry
  • ensure items for recycling are empty with no food residue, wash and squash

General waste bin

  • only one general waste bin will be collected per household
  • general waste presented outside your general waste bin will not be collected
  • please double bag ash and vacuum dust before placing in your general waste bin, for the health and safety of our crews
