Have you got some spare time? Is volunteering something you've always wanted to try and want to find out more about what is involved, or what contribution you could make?
If so, come along to the inaugural Borders Volunteers Fair at Springwood Park. You can meet with a wide range of local charities and organisations who would all welcome your help in many different ways.
More than 40 groups have signed up to showcase their work. From the larger organisations operating across the whole of the Borders to others just on your doorstep, they are all looking forward to explaining what they do and to hopefully recruiting some vitally needed new supporters.
There is no need to book - just come along on the day. The event is free and refreshments will be provided.
Are you a voluntary organisation or charity?
The Fair is part of a day-long event initiated by the three Borders Lord-Lieutenants with support from ourselves and the Borders Third Sector Partnership (made up of The Bridge, Berwickshire Association for Voluntary Service, Volunteer Centre Borders and the Scottish Borders Social Enterprise Chamber).
Voluntary groups have been invited to attend from 10.30am to:
- learn about who is doing what, share experiences and best practice
- discuss the opportunities for partnership working
- identify gaps in provision within the region
- encourage new volunteers.
Short key note presentations will each be followed by a breakdown into small facilitated discussion groups. The morning will close with an open forum discussion and an opportunity for networking during lunch.
