Winter travel advice

Winter travel advice

On foot

If you are out on foot, remember that roads, footways and footpaths are cleared of snow and ice in priority order

Driving

Take a few minutes before you leave to ensure there are no problems on your intended route. If you have to travel, try to avoid navigation devices and map apps that may lead you to heavily impacted roads - our routes are treated in priority order so main routes are more likely to be clear.

Drive to the conditions and turn around if you do not feel confident to continue on your journey.

Public transport

Check with operators before you travel during severe weather.

Bus

Look up your journey using Traveline Scotland to see if there is any disruption to the service.

Train

Contact Scotrail to check if there are any disruptions to the Borders Railway service.
