Shop Front Improvement Grant Scheme

The Scottish Borders is fortunate in the diversity and quality of its towns, which are attractive to residents and visitors alike.

The Council has allocated funding in 2010/11 to provide grant support towards repairs and enhancement works to shop fronts in the town centres of the main Border towns.

Grants of up to 80% of eligible costs will be available to local independent retailers, with a minimum grant of £500 up to a maximum of £3,000 available to property owners and tenants towards capital works to improve, upgrade or restore shop fronts in the following eligible town centre areas:

Coldstream; Duns; Earlston; Eyemouth; Galashiels; Hawick; Innerleithen; Jedburgh; Kelso; Lauder; Melrose; Newcastleton; Newtown St Boswells; Peebles, Selkirk, St Boswells & West Linton.

There will be two funding deadlines, the first deadline for applications is 30 July 2010, and the second deadline is 1 October 2010 and all works must be fully completed on site by 4 March 2011.
