Life in the Borders

How to do Business with us

What is Procurement?

“Procurement is... The acquisition of goods, services and works which meet the customers and service users’ needs whilst ensuring value for money throughout the life of the product including disposal.  Also known as Purchasing."

Put simply procurement is about the purchase of goods, works and services needed to enable (SBC) to deliver services to the people in the region. This can be anything from paperclips, photocopiers to major construction projects thus demonstrating diversity of products the council purchases.

Scottish Borders Council procures works, goods and services to the value of approximately £123 million per annum from around 2,487 different suppliers.

Contract opportunities and how we advertise them

Public Contracts Scotland is provided by the Scottish Government. Its use is free of charge and we encourage all suppliers to register their details. By registering your details you will benefit from free e-mail notifications of contract opportunities that may interest your company.

Scottish Borders Council publicise all current contract opportunities for works, goods and services which are available to tender on the Public Contracts Scotland portal.
