Full wheelchair access to visitor centre, including accessible toilet. Restricted access for wheelchairs in outdoor grounds.

History and Highlights

Housed in an historic spa, the exhibitions tell the story of Innerleithen and St Ronan’s Wells, describing their connections with the great Scottish writers, Sir Walter Scott and James Hogg. The origins of the unique Cleikium ceremonies held in July each year are also explored.

In 2007 the gardens surrounding the spa featured in the BBC television Beechgrove Garden programme and the gardens continue to be developed and enhanced with new plantings, sculpture and a picnic area.
