The Coaching Network for the Borders has a key role in improving the infrastructure of education, training, and development of sport in the community. Borders Sport Development Group provides the steer and consultative forum for an integrated approach to coaching across the region.

How would you like to help inspire, motivate and lead an athlete or team to a level of success they never thought possible?
Why not register as a sports coach with SBC and help improve the abilities of local sports people? Once registered, you will
be made aware of any sports coaching vacancies within the Council or from any other Borders organisations. You will also
receive regular information on locally delivered sports coach UK workshops, National Governing Body Coaching Courses, Coaching

Coaching Workshops
Whether you are an experienced coach or just want to learn more about coaching why not take part in a range of coaching workshops to help develop your skills? Courses available include Emergency Sports First Aid, Child Protection and various development courses aimed at the slightly more experienced coach. More information is available.
Analyse Your Coaching Workshop - Book your place now!!
This workshop is due to be held on Tuesday 26th February 2008 at 6.30pm at Old Gala House at a cost of £20 (funding may be available from your Local Sports Council). Contact online or pass this on to anyone you think may be interested. Coaching sports is an essential part of improving the abilities of our local sport persons/athletes, young and old. In order to optimise opportunities for coaches and volunteers, SBC manages and oversees a coach and volunteer database (including disclosure), using CoachBase. If you are an active coach or volunteer, registration on Coachbase will ensure coaching and education opportunities for you in your Sport are communicated to you directly.
The Coaching Network provides:
- The coordination of local and National coaching strategies
- The delivery of quality coach education and continuing professional development for coaches and leaders including the Sports Coach UK and National Governing Body courses and workshops
- A local sports specific needs based scholarship programme in conjunction with the relevant development officers and National Governing Bodies of sport that assists active local coaches to enhance their qualifications and skills
- Grants may also be available through your local Sports Council to assist in the recruitment and qualification of new coaches.
