Arriving by road from the north

From the north, we suggest you plan your route to arrive on any of the following:

A703 from Penicuik to:

  • Peebles, where you can take the A7 east to Galashiels or the A72 to the western Borders

A7 from Edinburgh visiting:

  • Galashiels where you can take the A72 west towards Peebles and the Pentland Hills
  • Selkirk where you can take the A699 to Kelso, the eastern Borders and the picturesque Berwickshire coast
  • Hawick where you can take the A6088 for Kielder, the Cheviot Hills and Newcastle or stay on the A7 for Carlisle

A68 from Edinburgh visiting:

  • Lauder where you can take the A697 to Duns, Coldstream the eastern Borders and the Berwickshire coast
  • Newtown St Boswells where you can take the A6091 to Galashiels, Peebles and the western Borders
  • St Boswells where you can take the A699 west to Selkirk, the Ettrick and Yarrow valleys and the Tweedsmuir Hills
  • Cleikimin where you can take the A698 to Hawick, Kielder and the Craik Forest or carry on to Jedburgh and the Carter Bar border.

A1 from Edinburgh visiting:

  • Cockburnspath where you can take the A1107 to Coldingham, St Abbs, Eyemouth and the Berwickshire coast
  • Grantshouse where you can take the A6112 to Duns, the eastern Borders and Lammermuir Hills
