The Scottish Blind Persons’ Travel Card is available to people who have been registered as either blind or partially sighted.
The Travel Card gives free travel on all bus, coach, rail and ferry services throughout Scotland. In addition, the Travel Card is also valid on bus, coach and train services between Scotland and Berwick-upon-Tweed and between Scotland and Carlisle. Please note that the Travel Card is NOT valid on excursions or tours.
The Travel Card will be issued free of charge. All Travel Cards will be valid for 5 years from your next birthday.
If you can only use public transport with assistance then you can apply for a Travel Card marked ‘with Companion’. First time applicants applying for a Travel Card marked ‘with companion’ will need to have page the appropriate form completed.
Please download, print and complete the application form (pdf format) by clicking the link on the right of this page and obtain a recent colour passport-sized photograph, which clearly shows your face. Post the completed application form and the ‘with companion’ application (second page of the download) if appropriate, together with your photograph to:

NOTES:
· The Scottish Blind Persons Travel Card gives free travel on all scheduled bus, coach, ferry and rail services within Scotland.
· The Travel Card is valid on all bus and coach services between Scotland and Berwick upon Tweed and Carlisle.
· The Travel Card is valid on rail services operated by GNER and Virgin Trains between Berwick upon Tweed and Scottish stations.
· The Travel Card is valid on rail services operated by Scotrail and Virgin Trains between Carlisle and Scottish stations.
· A Travel Card marked ‘With Companion’ allows the holder to take someone else with them to help them use public transport. The companion may travel free with the holder on any bus service within the Scottish Borders Council area. In addition the companion may also travel free of charge with the holder on bus services to and from Berwick upon Tweed, Biggar, Carlisle and Edinburgh, or intermediate points providing that the journey either starts or finishes in the Scottish Borders. There is no concession for companions in other parts of Scotland.
· The Travel Card is not valid on excursions or tours.
· Use of the Travel Card is subject to the published conditions of carriage of those operators on whose service it is valid.
· The loss of this card must be reported at once to the issuer:
