Demand Responsive Transport

Demand Responsive Transport services provide a taxibus service which runs only when needed – so avoiding the cost (to finances and the environment) of empty buses. Concessionary travel cards are also accepted.

We are trialling two different approaches – most of the services have a fixed route, where the bus goes the same route each time, but just run when needed but one runs when needed within a defined area including Stichill, Smailholm and Hume depending upon demand.  The trial is being monitored, and if successful, could be rolled out to more locations across the Borders.

You can see a timetable for each service along with advice on how to book a place on the bus by using the following links:

From Hume, Mellerstain, Nenthorn, Newton Don, Smailholm and Stichill to Earlston or Kelso.

From Westruther and Gordon to Kelso.

From the Ettrick Valley to Selkirk

From Hawick to Bonchester Bridge

From Gattonside and Langshaw to Galashiels

From the Yarrow Valley to Selkirk
