What is the Disabled Persons Parking Permit (Blue Badge Scheme)?

Under The Disabled Persons (Badges for Motor Vehicles)(Scotland) Regulations 2000, the Blue Badge Scheme provides a national arrangement of parking concessions for people with disabilities who travel as either drivers or passengers.  The scheme is designed to help disabled people travel independently, by allowing them to park close to their destination.

When the Blue Badge is displayed badge holders can then park free of charge and without time limit at parking meters, on-street and “pay-and-display” off-street parking.  They can also use disabled parking bays.
