Our Place

All about where you live

Beginning a conversation with us and having your say

Community planning is about how public agencies/organisations work together and with the local community to try and change things for the better. It is important that the voices of communities themselves are heard and listened to. In February and March 2017 we heard your views about what you like, dislike and would like to change about where you live.

We visited communities across the Scottish Borders to hear views about where you live. Participation was in a number of ways:

  • an online survey
  • a paper survey
  • attendance at a facilitated workshop

Community workshops

The Communities and Partnerships Team, on behalf of the Community Planning Partnership, hosted a series of workshops across the Scottish Borders:

  • Newcastleton Village Hall (Wednesday 22 February)
  • Eyemouth Hippodrome (Monday 27 February)
  • Duns Council Chamber (Tuesday 28 February)
  • Hawick Town Hall (Wednesday 1 March)
  • Kelso Tait Hall (Tuesday 7 March)
  • Peebles Burgh Hall (Wednesday 8 March)
  • Selkirk Victoria Hall (Thursday 9 March)
  • Jedburgh Town Hall (Monday 13 March)
  • Galashiels Transport Interchange (Thursday 16 March)

Share online

People also shared their views through social media by:

  • taking pictures of things they like, dislike or would like to change about where they live
  • posting to Instagram or Twitter, using #ourplace and #our(insertplace) #ourduns, #ourselkirk

We will be coming back to you in Summer 2017 to share and discuss next steps.
