Adjustment to school session dates
Published on Friday 3rd February 2012
School dates have changed slightly for the 2012/13 session.
Schools will open one day later in August 2012 than previously published.
This means that schools will now open for teachers on Tuesday 14 August 2012 and for pupils on Wednesday 15 August 2012.
The final day of the session will now be one day later to ensure that the schools are open for the requisite number of days. This means that schools will now close on Thursday 27 June 2013.
Glenn Rodger, Director of Education and Lifelong Learning, said: "New recording arrangements were introduced in 2011 for teacher holidays and school closure days in line with new national agreements. This has highlighted an anomaly in the dates previously published for the 2012-13 school session. The amendments to the start and finish dates have been brought in to address this anomaly.
"There will be no changes to any other holiday dates within the session."
The adjustment to the school session dates this year has been made to address changes to teachers' terms and conditions agreed by the Scottish Negotiating Committee for Teachers. This change was approved at the Education Executive meeting held on 1 February 2012.
