Scottish Borders recovers from severe winds

Stormy weather hits region.
The Scottish Borders experienced storm force winds on Tuesday 3 January with wind speeds of up to 78mph recorded in the region.Our Emergency Co-ordination Centre was opened during the peak of the storm from 9.30am to 2pm to deal with the increased number of calls and to assist with the co-ordination of our response.
We worked closely with the police and fire service to respond to any emergency issues such as tree clearing. Thirty staff from our Environment and Infrastructure department responded to approximately 70 call outs in relation trees which had fallen on roads.
There is no reported damage to any council buildings.
