Consultation starts.

We have launched a consultation on the 2012-2015 Scottish Borders Children and Young People's Services Plan. The consultation runs until Friday 17 February 2012.

Within the Scottish Borders, the Children and Young People's Planning Partnership seeks to improve outcomes for all children, young people and their families within the Scottish Borders through Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC).

The principles of GIRFEC build on the universal services of health and education and recognise the continuing need for these services to be involved in all of the support a child or young person receives. GIRFEC involves knowing what to do, when to do it, and who else to get involved.

Building on the work of the 2009-2012 Children and Young People's Services Plan, the Planning Partnership will ensure GIRFEC firmly underpins all future work.

A number of priority areas have been identified on which the work and resources in 2012-2015 plan will focus, they include:
  • early years
  • promoting children's rights
  • keeping children safe
  • looked after and accommodated children and young people
  • parenting
  • improved attainment and achievement for all our learners
  • improved health and wellbeing for children and young people.

The plan and feedback form with questions can be found in the consultation section.
