Cool kids create cars for Mars

Future space explorers create designs for planet rovers at Kelso HS.
Their inspirational work was for scientists and engineers from Astrium as part of a fun educational challenge for students aged 8 -16 using their Mars Rover prototype, Bridget, as inspiration.Astrium Engineering Manager Lester Waugh, Science Ambassador Victoria Hodges and Heather MacRae from Venture Thinking judged entries for their imagination, technical description, field trials, science, landing systems and design. A team from Kelso High School were chosen as the winners of the best field trial with a video demonstration of the Kelso High School Romer operating across the Mars Yard they had created. The model was made of Connex.
The team was made up of Reece McNaughton, Megan Cassidy, James Dixon, Matthew Innes supported by David Grigor who runs the school Space Club alongside Brian Farrell. David was awarded the Right Stuff Medal for Scotland at the Honeywell Space Academy for Educators course in Huntsville Alabama.
