Borderers urged to take care on roads
Published on Wednesday 28th November 2012
We remind motorists to take extra care.
The reminder comes as the colder weather continues to affect the region, with low temperatures forecast for the coming days.
Rob Dickson, Director of Environment and Infrastructure explained: "A great deal of rain has fallen in the Borders recently, which can create additional problems when we encounter freezing conditions. The amount of water that is lying at the moment can easily run off onto roads and freeze, and despite our best efforts to treat local routes we can't always guarantee they will be ice-free.
"With winter now in full flow drivers should plan their journey in advance, give themselves extra time and slow down. They need to be especially careful when roads could be icy or wet."
