Renewable energy tour to visit Borders this week
Monday, October 31 2005
A Scottish Executive exhibition on renewable energy called 'It's only Natural' will be visiting Galashiels, Hawick and Duns this week.
The exhibition, which is touring Scotland for 16 weeks, will offer advice and answer questions on all forms of renewable energy including wind, solar and thermal power, biomass, biogas and hydro power.
Staff from the Scottish Community Householder Renewables Initiative (SCHRI) and from TNEI, a renewable energy consultancy firm, will be on hand to provide advice and answer questions. The tour vehicle also has interactive kiosks, quizzes and information to take away.
"The aim is to inform the general public about all forms of renewable energy and attempt to dispel some of the myths and misunderstandings
surrounding them," said Sue Dean, SBC Environmental Strategy Co-ordinator.
"The exhibition will display information about renewable energy projects and reflect the Executive's targets for renewable
energy in Scotland. Scottish Borders Council recently agreed a resolution in support of microgeneration - the generation of
energy by householders - and we hope that the Executive's roadshow will inspire local people to seriously consider this approach
to meeting their energy needs."
'It's only Natural' will be in:
Galashiels Market Square on Wednesday, 2 November,
Hawick, Morrisons Supermarket on Thursday, 3 November and
Duns, Market Square on Friday, 4 November from 9am to 5pm each day.
